For the fourth year over fifty designer makers, members of the Sussex Guild, will be exhibiting their spectacular and beautifully made crafts in the ground floor auditorium of the iconic De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill. All the work is professionally created in small workshops and studios in East and West Sussex or the adjacent counties.
Meet the makers including local ceramicist Lisa Katzenstein who will be showing her colourful, hand painted pottery. Lisa says: “If a weed is a plant in the wrong place, then my ceramics are a home to them; a little bit of wilderness on a domestic scale. All my pieces are hand painted in tin-glazed earthenware, each as unique as the plants they depict.”
Also, come to see Jo McAllister’s contemporary jewellery which features granite textures highlighted by glinting edges. Heavy-gauge rings and bangles are wrapped, pendants and brooches folded. More recently, Jo has created metaphysical jewellery for collection, observation, and enjoyment which has been made in response to walking on heathlands, woodlands, seashores, and parklands.
Be inspired by the high quality of the beautiful work, most of which can be purchased or commissioned. Admission £3 (students and children free) with readmission throughout the weekend.
